OK, so it's been...what...forever? I have been BUSY, ok? There has been so much going on, I don't even know where to start!
First off, it's the holiday season. The weather is cold, football season is in mid-climax, and the vacation days come rapid-fire. Thanksgiving was great. We had a bunch of family gathered around, eating ourselves silly, laughing and talking about old times. It was truly what I am thankful for.
Christmas...what can you say about Christmas that hasn't already been said? Yes, I know it has become way too commercialized, but it's still a happy time of year. People are in a giving mood, the music is cheery, family gets together, and we remember back when we were the kids ripping open those brightly-wrapped little mysteries, not knowing what we were getting...but we were pretty sure that the gift from Aunt Margaret was probably socks or underwear! Now, it's more about getting together, offering an extra hug, and never forgetting what it's all about--giving. Don't give me shit about being sappy. This will be my 40th Christmas, and I like to think that everyone else sees it like I do. Santa comes by and brings gifts, we all get together with friends and family to eat, drink and be merry, and when it's all over, we thank those who weren't fortunate enough to be with their family for the freedom to celebrate however we feel. So, without further adieu, THANK YOUR TROOPS AND YOUR VETERANS! I don't care if you support the war or whatever it is, but dammit...support those people! OK? OK!
Now, on to my Colts. They're 11 games in, standing at 9-2. The heartbreaking loss to New England and the hideously forgettable performance where they lost to San Diego. What the hell--SIX interceptions? Holy shit! But now we're getting back to health, and perhaps we'll be able to kick ass and take names in true Colts style. Super Bowl bound again this year? It looks good, but we'll have to wait and see. Dallas and Green Bay are the teams to beat in the NFC, and Indianapolis and New England in the AFC. If any of those four teams end up going to the Bowl, it's going to be a shootout the likes of which hasn't been seen in many years. So keep an eye on those guys, and perhaps we'll see another epic performance in the Super Bowl by my beloved Colts!
OK, so that's enough for now. Life is moving now at somewhat of a blistering pace. Work is fast and furious, personal life is a blink of an eye, and my daughter grows faster than Easter lilies in April. As Kenny Chesney puts it..."Don't blink..."
Have a safe and happy holiday season, and remember why you're here and those who got you here. Until next time....
